HOW TO ENTER
1. Answer the question “What color palette will dominate design 75 years from today in 2088?” by creating and naming a color palette, Share how the palette will be used in interior design through a visual rendering. This can be in any form, including a sketch, painting, digital rendering or 3D print.
2. Submit your entry in the showroom, online or by mail
- In the Showroom: Hand your entry to a Robert Allen corporate showroom employee. Find your local Robert Allen showroom: http://www.robertallendesign.com/showrooms/Locator_map.aspx
- Online: Email your entry to contest@robertallendesign.com. The size of the files attached to your email should not exceed 5MB or it risks not being received.
- By Mail: Send your entry to – Attn: Marketing, The Robert Allen Group, 11 West 42nd Street, 22nd Floor, New York, NY 10036.
3. Your entry must include the following components:
a. A color palette
b. A name for the color palette or colors
c. A visual rendering showing how the color palette will translate to interiors
d. The entrant’s first and last name, business name, mailing address, telephone number, email address and Robert Allen account number.
4.    Submit your entry no later than October 18, 2013 at 11:59 PM EST.
Winners will be notified by November 5, 2013.

No purchase necessary to enter or win. Purchase of any product or service offered by the sponsor or payment of any kind will not improve chances of winning.

Entry in this Competition constitutes your acceptance of these rules.
The DesignVision 2088 Competition (“Competition”) asks interior designers to envision the color palette that will dominate design 75 years from today.
1. Sponsor: DesignVision 2088 Competition is sponsored by The Robert Allen Group, Inc. (“The Robert Allen Group,” “Robert Allen Design,” “Robert Allen” or “Sponsor”), located at 225 Foxboro Boulevard, Foxboro, MA 02035.
2. Eligibility: The Competition is only open to legal residents of 49 United States and the District of Columbia who are at least 18 years old at the time of entry and have an active account with The Robert Allen Group. Residents of the Rhode Island and Puerto Rico are prohibited from entering this Competition. To open an account with The Robert Allen Group, follow the instructions on www.robertallendesign.com/account_setup.aspx or visit a Robert Allen showroom: The Competition is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, including but not limited to copyright, trademark and other intellectual property and proprietary information laws, and is void where prohibited by law. Employees of Sponsor and their immediate families (spouse, parent, sibling, child, and spouse of any of the foregoing) and those living in their immediate households, whether or not related, are not eligible to enter the Competition or to win the prize. The winner agrees that the Sponsor, its affiliates and its agents and employees shall not be liable for injury, loss or damage of any kind resulting from participating in this promotion or from the acceptance or use of any prize awarded. Sponsor reserves the right to verify eligibility qualifications of any winner.
3. Color Palette Competition: Create an original color palette that represents your vision for the trend-right colors in 2088. Entries must include the name of the palette or the individual colors in the palate and a visual rendering of the palette being used in an interior setting. The rendering may be in any form, including an original sketch, painting, digital design or 3D printing. If desired, you may also include a description of your color palette and design in 250 or fewer words to help the judges better understand your entry. Three (3) finalists will be selected from each of four (4) regions: Northeast, South, Midwest, and West Coast. (See paragraphs below for details of judging and winner selection.)
4. Entry Period: The entry period for the Competition begins at 12:00 am Eastern Standard Time on September 9, 2013 and ends at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on October 18, 2013 (“Entry Period”). Entries will be accepted by email, mail or in Robert Allen corporate showrooms. Entries received before or after the Entry Period will not be considered unless an early entry is resubmitted during the Entry Period.
5. How to Enter: To enter, use one of the following methods to submit your entry during the Entry Period and follow the instructions to submit entry information: Online > Email a .JPG, .PNG, .GIF or .PDF file of your entry to contest@robertallendesign.com with the required information included on the artwork or in the body of the email as instructed below. The artwork file should not exceed 5MB in size; In the Showroom > Bring a physical copy of your entry to a Robert Allen corporate showroom (see here for locations: http://www.robertallendesign.com/showrooms/Locator_map.aspx) with all of the required information and hand all assets to a Robert Allen | Beacon Hill corporate showroom employee; By Mail > Mail your entry with all required information to Attn: Marketing, The Robert Allen Group, 11 West 42nd Street, 22nd Floor, New York, NY 10036. A complete entry consists of the following: (A) the Entrant’s first and last name, name of the entrant’s business, contact mailing address, email address and telephone number, (B) the Entrant’s Robert Allen Group account number, (C)) the Entrant’s response to “what will the color palette be in 2088?” in an original color palette and a name for the palette or colors along with a visual rendering created by the Entrant that shows the color palette applied to an interior design setting, (D) an optional description of the Entrant’s design philosophy behind the color palette in a maximum of 250 words (together, the "Submission"). Each Entrant may submit only one entry. All Submissions must be submitted via one of the three methods listed before. Incomplete Submissions will be void, and Sponsor disclaims any obligation to notify entrants of incomplete Submissions. Submissions must be received by The Robert Allen Group during the Entry Period to be considered. Proof of entry will not be deemed to be proof of receipt by The Robert Allen Group. The Sponsor is not responsible for incorrect or inaccurate transcription of entry information, or for any human error, technical malfunctions, lost/delayed data transmission, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, line failures of any telephone network, computer equipment, software, inability to access any Web site or online service, or any other error or malfunction, or late, lost, postage due, illegible or misdirected entries. Entry materials that have been tampered with or altered are void. No copies, facsimiles or reproductions of official entry forms will be accepted.
6. Judging and Selection of Winning Designers: There are three (3) rounds of judging in this Competition:
Round 1: From October 19, 2013 through October 25, 2013, The Robert Allen Group’s qualified judges will select three (3) regional finalists in four (4) regions for a total of twelve finalists. The twelve (12) finalists (“Finalists”) will be judged (in equal measure for each criterion) on originality of concept, clarity and congruity of design in visual rendering that upholds the principles of good design (inspiration that is accessible, understandable, and purposeful), and contribution to the discourse of design for the future.
Round 2: From October 28, 2013 through November 1, 2013, Cindy Allen, the Editor in Chief at Interior Design magazine will select one (1) Grand Prize winner from among the twelve finalists. The Grand Prize winner will be judged on the same criterion for their entries as that of the finalists.
Round 3: : From October 25, 2013 to November 1, 2013, fans of Robert Allen Design on Facebook will choose A Fan Favorite winner from among the twelve (12) finalists via a poll app on Robert Allen Design’s Facebook page.
7. Winner Notification: Finalists will be notified by The Robert Allen Group via e-mail and/or telephone between approximately October 25, 2013 and October 28, 2013 that their Submission was selected as one of the finalists. The potential Grand Prize winner will be notified by The Robert Allen Group via e-mail and/or telephone between approximately November 1, 2013 and November 4, 2013 that their Submission was selected as the potential winner of the Grand Prize. The potential winner of the Fan Favorite poll will be notified by The Robert Allen Group via e-mail and/or telephone between approximately November 1, 2013 and November 4, 2013. The twelve (12) finalists will be announced by October 25, 2013 on Robert Allen’s Facebook page, Twitter feed and on robertallendesign.com. The Grand Prize winner and the Fan Favorite winner will be announced via the same channels by November 4, 2013 and will have their entries displayed in a Robert Allen showroom.
The potential winner (parent/legal guardian if a minor in his/her state of residence) will be required to complete, sign and submit a Declaration of Compliance http://www.robertallendesign.com/DesignVision2088/declaration-of-compliance.pdf within forty-eight (48) hours after the time of notice or attempted notice is sent, in order to claim his/her prize by either (a) e-mail to contest@robertallendesign.com, or (b) via US mail to The Robert Allen Group at 11 West 42nd Street, 22nd Floor, New York, NY, Attention: Marketing. If the potential winner cannot be contacted, or fails to submit the Declaration of Compliance within the required time period, or the prize is returned as undeliverable, the potential winner forfeits the prize. If the potential winner is at least 18 but still considered a minor in his/her jurisdiction of residence, Sponsor reserves the right to award the prize in the name of his/her parent or legal guardian, who will be required to sign the Declaration of Compliance on the potential winner’s behalf and fulfill any other requirements imposed on winner set forth herein. Potential winners must continue to comply with all terms and conditions of these Official Rules and winning is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements. In the event that a potential winner is disqualified for any reason, does not respond within forty eight (48) hours to such notification, or elects not to participate further in the Competition, a replacement winner will be selected, utilizing the same judging criteria. The Sponsor reserves the right to modify the notification procedures in connection with the selection of an alternate Finalist or Grand Prize winner. In the event the potential Grand Prize winner cannot accept any portion of the Grand Prize, the Sponsor, in agreement with the Grand Prize winner, may award portions of the Grand Prize to the Grand Prize winner, and the unawarded portion(s) of the Grand Prize will be forfeited in its entirety by the Grand Prize winner. If Sponsor and the potential Grand Prize winner cannot agree on the portion of the Grand Prize to be awarded, the selected Grand Prize winner will forfeit the Grand Prize in its entirety and an alternate Grand Prize winner will be determined. Prizes will be awarded within approximately thirty (30) days after receipt and verification of completed Prize notification.
8. Prizes: The Grand Prize winner will receive: (a) two (2) tickets to the Interior Design Hall of Fame Gala on December 4, 2013 in New York City, (b) travel for two to New York City and hotel accommodations for one night, (c) and an invitation to visit The Robert Allen Group design studios and meet with Robert Allen’s design team. The total retail value of the Grand Prize is $3,500.00. The Fan Favorite winner will receive a credit worth $275 of product from The Robert Allen Group. All other expenses not specifically mentioned herein, including but not limited to, transportation other than that mentioned herein, meals other than that mentioned herein, additional hotel amenities or fees and gratuities, are the responsibility of winner and guest. Ground transportation from winner’s home will be substituted for air travel to the New York City hotel if winner lives within one-hundred-fifty (150) miles of either city at Sponsor’s sole discretion. If actual value of prize is lower than the stated ARV when prize is procured and fulfilled, then the difference will not be awarded. Travel, hotel and other accommodations are subject to availability. Winner and guest must travel on same itinerary. Trip must take place before December 4, 2013 or prize will be forfeited in its entirety. Advance booking, certain restrictions and blackout dates may apply. Winner and guest are solely responsible for obtaining the proper travel documentation (e.g., valid photo ID) prior to travel. Winner’s guest will also be required to sign the Declaration of Compliance prior to travel. If a guest is under eighteen (18) years of age, winner must be the guest's parent/legal guardian. Grand Prize winner is required to provide Social Security number to Sponsor’s representative for tax reporting purposes. An IRS 1099 Form will be prepared and filed in the name of the Grand Prize winner for the actual retail value of the prize. All federal, state, local and other taxes, costs and expenses relating to the use, acceptance and possession of any Prize are the sole responsibility of the winners. Prizes are non-transferable and no substitution by winner or cash equivalent is allowed. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize or portion of a prize for one of equal or greater value in its sole discretion.
9. Taxes and Documentation: All federal, state, and local taxes on the monetary value of any items awarded as part of the prize are the sole responsibility of the winners. Grand Prize winner is required to provide Social Security number to Sponsor’s representative for tax reporting purposes. An IRS 1099 Form will be prepared and filed in the name of the Grand Prize winner for the actual retail value of the prize. Entrant agrees to indemnify and hold Sponsor harmless from any claim, loss, liability and/or expense arising out of or relating to Entrant’s alleged failure to pay any taxes resulting from Entrant’s participation in the Competition.
10. Rights Definition: As used in these Official Rules, the term “Rights” shall mean rights of copyright, patent, trademark and service mark, publicity, privacy, trade secret, character, trade dress, and all other proprietary and personal rights of any kind whatsoever, together with any and all applications, registrations, renewal and extension rights, and rights to sue for any past, present, or future infringement or violation.
11. Originality of Submissions, Color Palettes and Visual Renderings, and Ownership of Rights: Each Entrant must have all Rights in and to his or her Submission as of the time of entry to the Competition and at the time of display. By entering a Submission, each Entrant represents and warrants that:
(A) the design, color palette and visual rendering thereof are original creations of the Entrant;
(B) the Entrant is the exclusive owner of the Rights related to the Submission, color palette and visual rendering, including but not limited to the Rights in the design and all images, to:
(i) enter such Submission in this Competition,
(ii) display the color palette and visual rendering and all components thereof at a Robert Allen showroom, on robertallendesign.com and its social media properties, and
(iii) grant to Sponsor all rights necessary to use the Submission, color palette and visual rendering in the Competition and as provided in these Rules; and
(C) no other person or entity has any Rights in the Submission, the color palette and visual rendering, or any component thereof, or is entitled to any payment for the use of the Submission, the color palette and visual rendering, or any component thereof.
A Submission must not have been, and may not be, entered in any other competition or previously published or fabricated. Modifying, enhancing or altering a third party's preexisting design does not qualify as an Entrant's original creation. Each Entrant agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the Sponsor from and against all claims or damages arising out of the use of such Entrant’s Submission, color palette and visual rendering. Sponsor reserves the right to void and/or disqualify any Submission if found in Sponsor’s sole discretion to be inconsistent with the above representations and warranties, plagiarized, copied, or fraudulent, to infringe upon existing Rights of others, or to be incomplete, damaged, obscene, vulgar, offensive or otherwise unsuitable for any reason. No Submission, color palette and visual rendering may violate the privacy rights of any person (living or deceased) or entity. Winners must provide to The Robert Allen Group written permission to use and display the images of any individuals depicted on the Submission, color palette and visual rendering.
12. Sponsor’s Use of and Control Over Submissions: Each Entrant grants Sponsor the right to copy, display, publish and otherwise use their Submission, color palette and visual rendering, and the design embodied therein, for judging, marketing, promotional and display purposes related to the Competition. By entering a Submission, a color palette and/or visual rendering, each Entrant irrevocably grants the foregoing rights to Sponsor, without expectation of compensation or acknowledgement (other than the prize, if any, that is awarded as set forth in these Official Rules). The Sponsor shall have no obligation to make attribution with respect to the Submission, retain any of the Submissions, color palettes or visual renderings, or maintain any information or ideas contained therein as confidential or proprietary. Each Submission, color palette and visual rendering must be in good taste and consistent with Sponsor’s respective positive images and may not be offensive or inappropriate, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion. The Sponsor may, in its sole discretion, and without providing notice to or receiving consent from an Entrant, modify, change, adapt, or otherwise alter a Submission, color palette or visual rendering to meet the requirements of publication, reproduction or display. The rights granted under this paragraph are without compensation or notification to the Entrant of any kind, except as required by law, and shall extend to all Submissions, all other materials submitted by an Entrant, and all other materials developed in connection with the Competition, regardless of whether they are developed by the Entrant or another person or entity.
13. Publicity: Except where prohibited, entry in the Competition and acceptance of any prize constitutes consent (except where prohibited by law) for Sponsor and their respective agents’ use of winner’s name, likeness, photograph, voice, opinions and/or hometown and state for promotional purposes in any media, worldwide, without further payment or consideration.
14. Verification: All Entrants and Submissions are subject to verification of eligibility by Sponsor. Entrants will cooperate with Sponsor and their representatives in connection with any and all verification.
15. General Conditions: Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, suspend and/or modify the Competition, or any part of it, if any fraud, technical failures or any other factor beyond Sponsor’s reasonable control impairs the integrity or proper functioning of the Competition, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion. Sponsor reserve the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Competition or to be acting in violation of these Official Rules or any other promotion or in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner. Any attempt by any person to deliberately undermine the legitimate operation of the Competition may be a violation of criminal and civil law, and, should such an attempt be made, Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. Sponsor’s failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision. By participating in the Competition, entrants agree to release and hold harmless the Sponsor, and each of its respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies, other companies associated with the Competition, and each of their respective officers, directors, employees, contest judges, shareholders, representatives, and agents (the “Released Parties”) from and against any claim or cause of action arising out of participation in the Competition or receipt or use of the prize (including any travel or activity related thereto), including, but not limited to: (a) any technical errors associated with the Competition, including lost, interrupted or unavailable Internet Service Provider (ISP), network, server, wireless service provider, or other connections, availability or accessibility or miscommunications or failed computer, satellite, telephone, cellular tower or cable transmissions, lines, or technical failure or jumbled, scrambled, delayed, or misdirected transmissions or computer hardware or software malfunctions, failures or difficulties; (b) unauthorized human intervention in the Competition; (c) mechanical, network, electronic, computer, human, printing or typographical errors; (d) application downloads, (e) any other errors or problems in connection with the Competition, including, without limitation, errors that may occur in the administration of the Competition, the announcement of the winner, the cancellation or postponement of the event and/or the flyover, if applicable, the incorrect downloading of the application, the processing of entries application downloads or in any Competition-related materials; or (f) injury, death, losses or damages of any kind, to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from entrants participation in the Competition or acceptance, receipt or misuse of the prize (including any travel or activity related thereto). Entrant further agrees that in any cause of action, the Released Parties liability will be limited to the cost of entering and participating in the Competition, and in no event shall the entrant be entitled to receive attorneys’ fees or other related costs. Released Parties are also not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by site users, tampering, hacking, or by any equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Competition.
16. Privacy Policies: In addition to the usage rights described in these Official Rules, by entering the Competition, Entrants agree and consent that any information provided upon entering may be used by Sponsor in accordance with their respective Privacy Policies located at http://www.robertallendesign.com/policies1.aspx.
17. Disputes/Choice of Law: : Each Entrant agrees that the Competition shall be governed by the laws of the State of Massachusetts and: (1) any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of or connected with the Competition shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by state or federal courts situated in Massachusetts; (2) any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, but in no event attorneys’ fees; (3) no punitive, incidental, special, consequential or other damages, including without limitation lost profits may be awarded (collectively, "Special Damages"); and (4) each Entrant hereby waives all rights to claim Special Damages. Under no circumstances shall Sponsor’s aggregate liability to any entrant of the Competition exceed One Dollar ($1.00).
